Sound Merlin by Tommy Software was conceived in 1989. It is a beautifully designed 8-bit mono Sampler programmed by Jörg Tochtenhagen, capable of sampling frequencies of up to 50 kHz. Again a Sampler where the hardware ADC plugs into the Atari's parallel port, and is perhaps the natural companion to Sound Machine. Sound Merlin's main features are accessed via the Sampling, Keyboard, Sequencer, Drum Computer, Manipulate and Fine Editor windows. Features include oversampling, filters, granular editing, key assignment of samples, a 'drum machine' grid editor and a sequencer where samples can of course be played in a sequence.
