Avalon by Steinberg was introduced in 1989. It is a 16-BIT Sampler Editor, which is capable of handling stereo sample frequencies between 1 kHz and 44.1 kHz. Along with Steinberg's 16-BIT D-A board, sound can be output at 16-BIT. Two versions were produced, Avalon and Avalon 2, irrespective of sub versions.
